Everett Emeral Romanzo Long was born February, 10, 1924 in Springfield, Missouri to James Edward and Anna J. Bacon. After service in the Navy as a Merchant Marine he married Ruth Lucille Bradford, on January 28, 1950. In 2013 they celebrated sixty three years of marriage.

At the age of 89 on Thursday, July 11, 2013, Everett passed away at home.

The family wishes to thank Mercy Hospice and Access whom lovingly assisted in care for him.

Everett managed the family farm and had a long tenure as a switchman with the railroad, first with Frisco Railroad and continuing with Burlington Northern Railroad until his retirement in 1983. He was a member and Deacon of Immanuel Baptist Church for over sixty years.

Being out of doors on the property, fishing, painting or working on equipment brought Everett many hours of enjoyment.

He is survived by his loving family, wife Ruth; daughters Sharon Lawler, Joann Smith and Eunice Hucker; grand daughters Mishelle Lawler and Tayla Smith; sister Lora Herrera; sons in law and many grandsons, nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents, Everett was preceded in death by first born daughter Marylon Long and ten siblings.

The family has requested donations be made in Everett's name to Immanuel Baptist Church, 1931 W Nichols St, Springfield, MO 65802 or Mercy Hospice 1570 W Battlefield, Springfield, MO 65807.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W State Hwy EE (Division), Springfield, MO with funeral services to follow at 12:30 pm. Interment will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
