On January 17, 2024, Ellen Lucille (Lodwick) Patton got her wings and went to walk with the angle's.She was 88 years old and passed away peacefully in Springfield, MO. at Birch Pointe Memory Care Facility from complications due to Dementia.
Ellen was born on July 13, 1935 in Springfield, MO. Carl R. Lodwick and Elizabeth Jewell (Wilson) Lodwick. Ellen was one of eight children who all have preceded her in death, Jimmy, Virginia, Les, her Identical twin Helen, Maudie, Jean-Ann, and Donnie.
On February 5, 1954, Ellen Married the love of her life, Harold Warren Patton who preceded her in death on February 7, 2019 after 65 years of marriage. They had two children, Steven, born January 29, 1956 who passed away in 1983 from complications of pneumonia and Laura, born March 5, 1961.
Ellen was a Homemaker who delighted in taking a daily interest in her children's lives. She was always there for support or advice. One thing goes without saying, you always knew where you stood with Ellen. She always spoke her mind with clarity and honesty. Other than her family, Ellen's most rewarding privilege was teaching Sunday School in the Beginners Department for 13 years at South Side Baptist Church where she was a member for most of her life. She was a die hard St. Louis Cardinal fan and despite never attending a game in person, she and Harold rarely missed a game on TV. Ellen loved to travel and looked forward to her and Harold's yearly vacations with her twin sister Helen and her husband Bruce Snow. Standing just under 5-foot-tall Ellen did not let her small stature intimidate her, she was always the center of of all family functions with her smile that could brighten a room that made everyone feel welcome, she will be forever missed, forever remembered, and forever Loved!
Ellen is survived by her daughter, Laura Mentzer and grandson, Ryan Mentzer and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends whom Ellen loved all unconditionally.
Visitation will be from 12:00 - 1:00 pm, Monday, January 22, 2024 in the Klingner Cope Funeral at White Chapel 5234 W. State Hwy EE Springfield, MO 65802. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Chadd Harkrider officiating. Burial will be private.
