Eleanor Maudline Cutright, 92, of Greenup, Ill., passed away on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, in Springfield, Mo.
Eleanor was Valedictorian of the Greenup High School class of 1939. She attended Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, Ill., to earn a teacher''s certificate. She then taught in three different country schools where she had first through eighth grades. After country schools consolidated, Eleanor taught second grade in Casey, Ill., and later substituted for the Casey School District. For several years, Eleanor read meters for Coles-Moultrie Electric and served as assessor for the townships of Union, Cottonwood, and Crooked Creek.
Eleanor married Albert Bemont Cutright in 1943. They lived in the Union Center area and spent most of those years on the Cutright family farm. In 1990 they moved into Greenup.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Ellsworth Wade and Nellie Askew Wade, her husband Bemont, and her sister Ila Bargamian.
Eleanor is survived by two daughters; Kay Mills and husband Steve, Coeur d''Alene, Idaho, and Joyce Cutright and husband J.T. Porter, Springfield, Mo. She is also survived by two grandsons; Dirk Mills and wife Christa, Keller, Texas, and Jason Porter and wife Teresa, Springfield, Mo. Eleanor is also survived by two great granddaughters and four great grandsons, nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins, extended family members and friends.
Eleanor was a member of the Effingham Church of Christ, Effingham, Ill., and through the years also enjoyed Christian fellowship at Greenup Baptist Church, Greenup, Ill., and Glendale Christian Church, Springfield, Mo.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, from 5:30 - 7 p.m. at Klinger-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte. Visitation in Greenup, Ill., will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Bishop Funeral Home, followed by the Funeral at 2 p.m. and then burial at Harmony Cemetery, Greenup, Ill.
The family expresses special thanks to the caring staff of Lakewood Arbors, Springfield, Mo., where Eleanor lived the last three months.
