Edward Lavell Stevens, 89, passed away Friday, October 21, 2011. He was born September 9, 1922 in Easton, KS the son of Edward and Goldie Stevens. Edward (Steve) was married to Laura Stevens on May 2, 1977 in Springfield, MO. Steve was a veteran of World War II and served in France.
He was employed in the petroleum industry for 40 years. After retirement he worked for Republic Ford until he was 87 years old. Steve enjoyed hunting and fishing and dancing with Laura.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura; his parents and two grandchildren, Jason and Dustin.
Steve is survived by sons, Mike (Louaine) and Russell (Terri); daughters, Sharon Lee (Ron), Marilyn Brooks, Debbie Myers (Richard), Jana Doran (Donald), Anita Stevens, all from a previous marriage to Erma Wray; and Laura''s children, Gary Cosatt and Cristin Kay. He also has 17 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
A visitation is scheduled for Monday, October 24, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte, 4500 S. Lone Pine. Graveside service will be Tuesday, October 25 at 10 a.m. in the Rivermonte Memorial Gardens with military honors.
Family has requested donations be made in Steve''s name to the Elks Lodge #409, 2223 E. Bennett, Springfield, MO 65804.
