Edna Irene Jairett, 89, of Casa Grande, Arizona, died on May 3, 2013, at Deborah's House assisted living. Ms. Jairett was born November 1, 1923, in Connersville, Indiana.
During the war, she worked at an airplane factory where she ran the tool room and proudly told stories about that experience. It was at the airplane factory where she met Richard Jairett. They married in January 1944. After she and Dick (a native of Springfield) married they moved to Springfield where she began work at Foremost Dairy as the receptionist.
After retiring from Foremost, Edna pursued her passion in the arts, especially oil painting. She was a long time member of the Springfield Art Museum where she received numerous awards for her art and proudly displayed her work at the library, hospitals and Juanita K. Hammonds Hall for the Performing Arts. A long time member of University Heights Baptist Church, she was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. After moving to Arizona, Edna enjoyed gardening, her little dog "Sugar" and never missed watching the Arizona Diamondbacks and referred to them as "her boys".
She was preceded in death by Dick and two sisters.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Marga and Bill Brew of Casa Grande, AZ; her son Jim Jairett and wife Paula Foreman of St. Paul, MN; her sister, Wilma Davis of Connersville, IN; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Betty Jairett; three grandchildren; two step grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Deborah's House of ad Edna called them her angels, for their care and kindness.
A memorial service will be held June 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W State Hwy EE, Springfield, MO with Pastor Danny Chisholm officiating. No visitation is planned.
