Edna Marie Laxton, of Sparta, MO, was a self described stubborn and independent woman, having proved so every day of her 89 years before passing away on Saturday, April 27, 2019. She was born on Saturday, May 11, 1929 in Springfield, MO to Pearl Carter and Joshua Roberts.

Edna married Duane Laxton on October 25, 1952 and to this union one child was born. Her son Bruce D. Laxton was their whole world for 57 years. Edna worked at the Garment Factory and then at General Electric for 24 years before retiring. After their retirement, Duane and Edna enjoyed vacationing with family and friends. She loved to visit with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family will always remember her loving heart and her door always being open for a welcoming hug or a hilarious story from the past.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband of almost 49 years, her parents and her son.

She is survived by her three grandchildren, Bo Laxton, Brandi Bradley and Alexis Laxton, two great-grandchildren Austen and Fritz, two son-in-laws Seth Bradley and Joshua Jordan, two brothers Bill and Donald Roberts and one sister Shirley Houton.

A graveside service will be held at 10am on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens, 4500 S. Lone Pine Ave., Springfield, MO 65804. Online condolences can be made at www.klingnerfuneralhome.com
