Edith M. Tarter went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 6, 2018 at the age of 95 at home surrounded by her family. She was born December 18, 1922 near Worthington, MN in Nobles County to Bertum and Josephine Sisk Blakney who preceded her in death. She had three sisters and three brothers all deceased and husband Thomas W. Tarter who was called home on June 30, 2014.

She graduated from high school in 1940. Edith worked at the Telephone Company in Bloomington, IL. for a number of years. She was united in marriage to Thomas W. Tarter in 1951 and they enjoyed 63 years together. To this union two children were born, Denise M. Cook and Thomas S. Tarter. In 1977 Edith graduated from LPN school and worked in several hospitals during her career.

Edith and Tom traveled many places. All lower states, Alaska and Mexico. They lived in New Mexico many years, then to Minnesota and then Missouri.

She is survived by her two children, Denise and Tom; three grandchildren, David, Jennifer and Juliana; seven great grandchildren, Dustyn, Austyn, Kayla, Shelby, Katelyn, Dylan and Jaxon.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at First Baptist Church Brookline (2044 S. St. Hwy MM Springfield, MO) at 11:00 a.m. A burial will take place at a later date at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
