Edith Marie (McCreery) Dale-Johnson 98, of Ava, Missouri passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025. She was born on Thursday, January 13, 1927, in La Junta, Colorado to Levert and Esther (Giles) McCreery.
Edith married Claude Arvin Dale and to this union five children were born. She later married Otis Peter Johnson. Edith first started working at the Railroad as a switchboard operator and then became a private seamstress for numerous clients. She then started her career as a Dorm Matron at Mt. Zion Bible School and later went to work for Hagle Industries for over 40 years as a seamstress. Following Hagle Industries she worked as a librarian at Seymour library. Edith enjoyed puzzles and crossword but most of all she loved spending her time with her family.
Preceding her in death are her two husbands, her parents, one son Larry Johnson, one daughter Linda Koenig, one son in-law Robert Eagleston, one grandson Daniel Bruce Banks and fifteen siblings.
Edith is survived by her six children J. Gary Dale (Donna), David S. Dale (Marilyn), John L. Dale (Rebecca), Kayleen Eagleston, Karolyn Garrett (Dennis) and Steven Johnson (Pam), 18 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren, one sister Betty Jo Stewart, one brother David Lee McCreery and a host of family and friends.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 am – 11:00 am on Friday, January 24, 2025 at the Mt. Zion Church of God Holiness, 13359 O'Bryan St., Ava, MO 65608 with funeral services to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in her name to The Gideon's International in Ava, MO or the Mt. Zion Bible School.
