Douglas Eugene Brockus, 68, of Springfield, MO passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. He was born March 18, 1957 to Roberta Brockus Andrews.

Doug was a 1975 graduate of Central High School in Springfield, MO and lived his life in the same house he grew up in. Doug was very talented at building things from wood, including furniture, musical instruments and cabinetry and was employed as a woodworker by Keifer Woodworks in Springfield for many years. Additionally, he was an avid astronomer doing astrophotography primarily using his self-built telescope and observatory. He also loved collecting coins and other items during his life.

He is survived by his mother, Roberta Brockus Andrews; brothers, Randy Gentry (Rosemary) of Harrisonville, MO, Jerry Gentry (Frank Sabatini) of San Diego, CA; and sister, Brendetta Gentry (Susanne Beattie) of Whidbey Island, WA; and two nieces, Madi Gentry Toloui and Camryn Gentry. In addition, Doug is survived by special aunts, uncles and cousins along with his friends, including a close friend Eddie Webster.

Doug is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Hazel Brockus; aunts and uncles, Violet and Ray Hensly and Charlie and Janit Myers.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Friday, August 22, 2025 at Klingner Cope Funeral Home White Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Memorials in memory of Doug, may be made to "Family Choice" with proceeds going to defray funeral cost.
