Obituary

Dorothy McLaughlin, native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on August 31, 2023, at age 89.  Prior to marrying her husband, John, of 58 years, Dorothy worked at South Central Bell Telephone Company as a long distance operator and a service assistant.  After they married, she worked with her husband in his various businesses as a secretary/bookkeeper.  They started out in sheet metal and went into construction of homes, commercial buildings and apartments.  In 1975, they purchased 2800 acres of land in Missouri and built a beautiful ranch.  They later retired to the Kimberling City area of Missouri.  They traveled extensively, throughout most of the states, including Alaska and Hawaii and visited Australia twice.  She loved to read and her hobby was genealogy.  She loved a good laugh and was full of shenanigans/"J.W.".  She always shared her home generously with her family and friends.  She was a very fun loving and giving Mother/best friend, Grandmother and Great Grandmother "Great Granny Dot".  She was also a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, John, and her parents, John W. Ainsworth and Ottie Waller, and three brothers, Ronald, Aubrey, and William Ainsworth, and one sister, JoAnn Holden.  She is survived by one sister, Carolyn Mixon.  She is also survived by her children:  Son, John W. McLaughlin II, and his wife, Sharon, and their children:  Nikki Devlin, her husband, Sean, and her son, Cameron Palmintier; Bridgette Jencks, her husband, Stephen, and their daughters, Alaina, Ansley, and Ava; Brittany McLaughlin; John McLaughlin III and his wife, Taylor.  Daughter, Ellen Hadden, and her husband, Louis, and their children:  Chase Hadden and his wife, Cami; Elise Hadden.  Son, Greg McLaughlin and his wife, Tammy, and their children:  Kyle McLaughlin; Daniel McLaughlin and his wife, Brooke, and their children: Lincoln, Mabel, and Willow; Kyla Olson and her husband, Riley, and their son, Jacob; Courtney McLaughlin; Rebekah Ballard and her husband, Brian, and their daughters, Poppy and Davi.

She was Baptist by faith and was a member of Talking Rock Road Baptist Church in Branson West, Missouri.
