Obituary

Doris June Quillin of Ozark, Missouri completed her earthly journey on 16 September 2023. Born on 19 June 1933, in Appleton City, MO. Doris met the love of her life, Dean Quillin, when she was only fifteen years old. They married two years later, enjoying a marriage that surpassed 70 years. During those decades of marriage, Doris perfected the art of making a house feel like a home. Imagine Martha Stewart's homemaking prowess combined with Lucille Ball's beauty and charm- that synergy approaches a description of Doris' incredible talent.

If you spent any time with Doris, you were likely the recipient of her extravagant generosity; whether she delivered you one of her famous, multi-layered homemade carrot cakes, or gave you a piece of her own jewelry or clothing after you merely complimented it, you seldom went away from her empty-handed. Each year at Christmas, she generously applied her homemaking talents to decorating her house for Christmas. Her Christmas décor could be best described as opulent, and as such, her home was once featured in The Springfield News-Leader for its beauty at Christmastime.

Doris literally never met a stranger; she had a unique ability to engage people in conversation, often while browsing the aisles of TJ Maxx! Soon these new "friends" would find themselves sharing their own life stories with her. It was important to Doris to get to know people on a personal level because it provided her with an opportunity to share the hope that she had discovered in her relationship with Jesus Christ. She did not want a single person to miss out on the same opportunity.

We now trust that Doris is receiving her reward in Heaven-meeting Jesus and being reunited with her precious husband-at long last. Doris was preceded in death by her husband Dean, her parent's (Casper and Myrtle), one sister (Maxine), one son-in-law (Ed), one grandson (Tyler), and many other friends and relatives. She is survived by her two daughters: Vicki Kussman and Tammy Casanova (Tony); five grandchildren: Melissa Jumbeck (Adam), Christian Casanova, Caleb Casanova, Cody Casanova, and CateAnn Casanova; two great-grandchildren: Yessenia Jumbeck (Daniel Pereira-Hernandez) and Jessica Jumbeck; one great-great grandchild: Giovanni Pereira-Jumbeck; three siblings (Joyce, Don and Laura), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris' survivors now grasp the baton of faith that she has passed to us, and we live the remainder of our days grateful for her life and looking forward to the day when we are all reunited in Heaven.
