IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Doris Karolina
Cox
March 14, 1942 – February 3, 2025
Doris Karolina Cox (Meme), 82, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025 with her beloved daughters by her side. She was born on March 14, 1942 in Berlin, Germany to Karolina and Ernst Geilke.
Doris was a true trailblazer, becoming the first female barber in both the State of Bavaria, Germany, and Missouri. She held a cosmetology license and made a lasting impact in the Springfield community as a successful entrepreneur. She owned Doris's European Hair Fashions and Headhunters Salon. She also owned and operated Bit of Bavaria - known by regulars as "The Bit" - alongside her daughter Kanina, bringing authentic German flavors and warm hospitality to the area. The Bit was a local restaurant where friends and family gathered for good times and laughter. She later expanded her passion by opening another location in Branson West. In addition, she owned DK's Lounge, where you could stop in to kick up your feet and grab a cold one. She had a deep love for people, always welcoming friends and family with open arms and a warm heart.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and her eldest daughter Kimberly.
She is survived by her two daughters Jeneen Hockersmith (Bill) and Kanina Cox-Wheeler (Drew), three grandchildren Joseph Farmer (Layla), Machelle Robb (Jakke), and Michael Farmer and several great grandchildren, all of whom brought her so much joy and pride.
