Donald Keith Jensen, 98, of Springfield, Mo, passed away Friday, November 27, 2020 in the comfort of his home with his beloved dog by his side. Don was born on July 20, 1922 in Platte, South Dakota to Archie and Alma (Brown) Jensen.
At the age of 20 Don enlisted in the Reserve Corp. He served as a Corporal in the Army during WWII, working in the Air Corp as an instructor. After his service ended, Don attended Draughon's Business College in Springfield. He later worked for Campbell St Lumber Company, before purchasing Farquar Lumber and becoming a lumber broker from 1963-1981.
On January, 29, 1944 Don married the love of his life, Ruth Williamson Shannon in Salem, Mo. They shared 63 wonderful years together until her death in 2007.
Don and Ruth were faithful members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Springfield, where Don served as Treasurer and Elder for many years. In 1974, they left Trinity and became charter members of Faith Lutheran Church, where he was a member until his death.
Don's mind and memory were always sharp. He loved to share stories of his life experiences with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren - and they loved listening to him.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (Shannon) Jensen, his sister, Myrtle Hargan, brother Charles Jensen, and his beloved son, Randy Jensen, who passed away in February of 2001. Don will be greatly missed by a sister, Val Meyer, a daughter, Barbara Levan and husband Gary, a son, Don Jensen and wife, Vickie, and daughter in law Ann Shaw and husband Darren. Don was blessed with five grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at noon at Faith Lutheran Church in Springfield, Mo, on Friday, December, 4th. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Rivermonte Memorial Gardens.
