Don Alan Eddington, 77, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026, at Cox Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, surrounded by his loving family.

Don was born on April 15, 1949, in Springfield, Missouri. On September 1, 1967, he married the love of his life, Judy Houston. Together they shared nearly 59 years of marriage, building a life centered on love, hard work, faith, and family.

Together, Don and Judy were blessed with two children, Todd Alan Eddington and his wife, Tonya, and Kimberly Ann Eddington. His family was the center of his world, and he took great pride in watching it grow through the years. Don was the proud grandfather of Bryce Eddington and his wife, Larissa; Sean Eddington; Jordan Metz and Aubbrey; Emily Carter and her husband, Caleb; and Carter Metz. He was also blessed with six great-grandchildren, who brought him joy and laughter.

Don began helping with his family’s business, Eddington Ice, when he was just eight years old. He later worked for the Frisco Railroad for several years. In 1986, he founded Landmark Siding and Windows, where he built a respected business and earned the trust and friendship of countless customers throughout the Springfield area through his honesty, craftsmanship, and hard work.

Music was one of Don’s greatest passions. He loved singing and playing the guitar. Don and Judy began writing songs together in the 1970s. Along with friends from East Side Assembly of God, they formed a gospel group called Heaven Bound. Don’s first album, He Chose Me, was recorded in 1976 and received airplay on local radio. The group also enjoyed performing at the Ozark Jubilee and the Ozark Mountain Hayride. In 1977, Don wrote and recorded his song, Special Little Girl, inspired by his beloved daughter. Although he received offers to purchase the song, he always said it had been written for only one person.

During the 1980s, Don, Judy, Todd, and Kim traveled throughout the Ozarks singing gospel music in churches and other venues. Those years of ministering together created treasured memories and strengthened the close bond they shared as a family. In 2002, Don and Judy founded Greater Is He Ministry in Springfield, Missouri, where they hosted monthly gospel singings that welcomed musicians and friends from all over the region. Together they also recorded an album of original songs titled Lo, There Comes A Man. Through this ministry, they shared their faith in God, encouraged countless people, and formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. Those they met through the ministry became more than friends—they became family.

More than anything, Don will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted Dad, proud Pa, and a man whose life was defined by unwavering faith and trust in God. His kindness, servant’s heart, love of music, and dedication to his family left an unforgettable mark on everyone who knew him.

Don was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Mary Eddington; his parents, Donald and Laura Eddington; his parents-in-law, Paul and Lessie Houston; his brothers, Joe Bob Eddington, Kelley Eddington, and Ronnie Eddington; his sister, Sue Price; and loved ones Martha and Dean Dickens, Bill Houston, Donnie Houston, Carolyn Gann, Terry Vinyard, Lindsey Smith, and Susie Eddington.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Eddington; his children, Todd Alan Eddington and his wife, Tonya, and Kimberly Ann Eddington; his five grandchildren, Bryce Eddington and his wife, Larissa, Sean Eddington, Jordan Metz and Aubbrey, Emily Carter and her husband, Caleb, and Carter Metz; six great-grandchildren; his brother and best friend, Steve Eddington; his sister, Linda Eddington; his cousin and brother at heart, Kenny Eddington; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, lifelong friends, and the countless people whose lives were touched through his music and ministry.

Don leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, faith, and treasured memories that will continue to inspire his family for generations to come. Though he will be deeply missed, he will live on in the hearts of family and friends until that glorious day when they are reunited in Heaven.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at One Life Church, 3245 South Kansas Avenue, Springfield, Missouri 65807. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. A brief graveside service will immediately follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5234 State Highway EE, Springfield, Missouri 65802.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the prayers, love, and support shown during this difficult time. We are at peace in knowing that Don has been made whole again and free of all pain. They invite all who knew and loved Don to join them in celebrating his life.
