James Richard "Dick" Courtney, 89, of Springfield, MO passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 19, 2022. He was born in Pittsville, MO on Wednesday, June 22, 1932 to Alpha Lee Simmons and Thomas Alfred Courtney.


Dick was a Navy veteran, serving as a member of the air crew aboard the USS Oriskany. Moving to Springfield in 1977 he opened his business, Springfield Kawasaki. After the sale of the business, he went on to assist is son Chris Courtney at his business, Premier Sports Cars, Co. also of Springfield. Dick was with Premier Sports Cars, Co. until his retirement in March of 2020.

He was preceded in death his parents and one brother Jerry Courtney.

Dick is survived by his former wife and friend Carole Courtney, four children Leslie Courtney, Lisa Courtney Tobola, Chris Courtney and Melissa Courtney, five grandchildren Brette Jensen, Jack and Jace Davenport and Austin and Ashley Courtney and two great-grandchildren Ava Neil and Kaprina Jenson.

A graveside service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, April 22, 2022 at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens, 4500 S. Lone Pine Ave., Springfield, MO 65804.
