Dennis Joseph Hendershott, a resident of Springfield, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Mercy Hospital. He was 72 years old.

Dennis was born on Saturday, December 30, 1950 in Kankakee Illinois to parents, Jess and Betty Jane Hendershott.  He attended Glendale High School.  After high school he met and later married Stella Kaye Baldwin on September 16, 1972.  They lived in Springfield and had two daughters, Jennifer Meacham and Joy Hendershott.  In 2018, Dennis retired from Missouri State University where he worked as a receiving clerk.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Stella Kaye in 2016.

Dennis was a proud grandfather of Alexander and Nicholas Meacham.  Dennis enjoyed working in his yard and took great pride in his flower beds and koi pond.  He was a fan of NASCAR and Chicago Cubs baseball.  Dennis could make a friend with a stranger and share stories for hours.  He was also talented in the kitchen. His family loved his spaghetti sauce, pizza, and minestrone soup.

Dennis is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Meacham and Joy Hendershott; two grandsons, Alexander and Nicholas Meacham; two brothers, Jim and Dale Hendershott.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Stella Kaye; parents, Jess and Betty Jane Hendershott and his sister, Paula See.

There will be a visitation for Dennis on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens Chapel from 5 pm-630 pm. There will be an inurnment  on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 10 A.M. in the Rivermonte Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
