Dennis Lee Barber, 84, of Springfield, MO passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Select Specialty Hospital with family by his side holding his hand. He was born on Friday, September 10, 1937 in Springfield, MO to Ralph and Mary Barber.
Dennis married Joyce Melton on March 5, 1955. The two were soul mates and best friends. They were blessed with two children Chris and Mary. They also considered and loved Joe Buecker as their own. After losing Joyce, Dennis got remarried to Norma Day. They spent many happy years together living on Table Rock Lake and enjoying nature. Dennis worked as a painter of residential construction. He was a master of his craft. Dennis loved spending time reading the Bible and leading many people to know and love Jesus. A few of his fondest memories would be fly fishing with Joyce, hunting with Buck, painting with his son, relaxing on the back porch with his daughter and son-in-law and visiting with his grand and great-grandchildren. Dennis will especially be remembered for his love and dedication to Jesus Christ, his big genuine hugs, and his beautiful sky blue eyes.
He was proceeded in death by his first and second wife, his parents, one son Chris Barber and one sister Sue.
Dennis is survived by his daughter Mary Fitch (husband Billy), one daughter-in-law Deborah Barber and family, two sisters Jan Lee (husband Charlie) and Teresa Pinegar (husband Allen), five grandchildren Zach Barber, Billy Fitch (wife Kimberly), Chrisshanna Rhoten (husband Lucas), Brady Fitch (wife Ashlyn) and Zach Case (wife Marley), eight beautiful great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family.
A visitation will be held from 1-2 PM on Friday, August 5, 2022 at the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte, 4500 S. Lone Pine Ave., Springfield, MO 65804 with funeral services officiated by his brother-in-law Pastor Pete Ivie to follow at 2 PM. Memorial donations can be made in his name to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Online condolences can be made at www.klingnerfuneralhome.com
