Debora Anne
Mcneley
Dec 23, 1963 — Jan 18, 2019
Springfield
Debora "Debby" Anne McNeley, 55, passed away on Friday afternoon, January 18, 2019, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO. With her family at her bedside, Debby ended her courageous battle with COPD. She was born on Monday, December 23, 1963 to Sharon Kay (Dunn) and James Burl Stevens, the younger of their two daughters.
Debby lived her entire life in Springfield and attended Hillcrest High School. On March 27, 1982 she married Russell Allen McNeley in Springfield. Her passing is just short of what would have been their 37th anniversary. They were blessed with one child, a daughter, Cameo Callista McNeley.
From her teenage years until her health failed her, Debby was a persistent hard worker. She particularly enjoyed her years at Cracker Barrel and Glo Cleaners.
Debby was full of life, fun loving, and personable. She loved her family more than herself and did everything she could for them. Young at heart, Debby was a delight to her two young granddaughters with her vibrant personality. Always wanting to be a little different, Debby taught the girls to call her "Cracker". She could joke and tease the granddaughters with the greatest of ease.
Debby had pet names for her loved ones. Her husband was "Ru-ssell"; Cameo was "Toots"; the oldest granddaughter, Ora, now age 14, was "Sugar Cube Princess" and younger granddaughter, Skye, now age 9, was "Sweet Tart Sista".
Debby loved motorcycles and sometimes reminisced about when she and her father would travel to Tulsa and when she and Russell would travel to different places. In addition, Debby and Russell enjoyed David Allan Coe concerts they attended around the Midwest. Debby enjoyed watching TV shows like "Frasier," and dearly loved her cats, "Oliver" and "Mr. Owl Hoo Hoo".
Debby was preceded in death by her father, James Burl Stevens, in 1985.
She is survived by her husband, Russell, of the home; her daughter, Cameo Brown, her mother Sharon (Dunn) Barnett, two granddaughters Ora Anouk Brown and Skye Kiree Brown, one sister Sheryl Lynne (Stevens) and husband Johnny Thomas all of Springfield and many aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins, and friends. Debby was very close to her husband's family and is survived by Russell's mother, Fern Lois (Strain) McNeley and Russell's sister Cara Louise (McNeley) and husband Toby Ludwig, all of Springfield. Russell's father, Harry "Sonny'' Allen McNeley passed away in 2001.
A celebration of Debby's life and family visitation is scheduled for Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 1 - 4 p.m. at Doling Park's Northview Center in Springfield. Cremation arrangements are in the care of the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel.
