IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David
Jones
January 3, 1952 – August 4, 2022
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of David Lee Jones of Rogersville, MO. He left us
peacefully at the age of 70, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born to parents (Elza and Virginia Jones) on January 3, 1952, in Springfield, MO. David was a caring and hard-working man throughout his entire life. Upon marriage to Myra Jones on September 10, 1983, he helped raise a thriving family of 5 children while working 40 years at Pepsi.
In his early days, he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his boys, working on cars (eventually led to
teaching the kids to drive mud-trucks), and was a tremendous baseball player. He even had a full
scholarship in high school. He shared each of these hobbies with his family and children, as the time spent with each other was the most important thing to him.
After retirement, he continued to tinker with his farm equipment, searching auctions and websites for the best deals, and of course hay season. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Elza and Virginia Jones, and his brother, Charles Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Myra Jones, his brother Billy Jones and wife MaryEllen, his brother Jimmy Jones and wife Jo, his sister Brenda McNally and husband Pat, his sister Ann Asbury and husband Mike, and his sister Linda Sly and husband David. He is also survived by his children, Michael Jones and wife Angie, Andrew Jones and wife Tamela, Grace Budler and husband Nick, Sara McCarter and husband Greg, and Rebecca Stone and husband Chase. And last but not least, his 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
To commemorate and celebrate his life and legacy, there will be a visitation on Monday, August 8, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Klinger Cope Family Funeral Home located at 5234 State Hwy EE, Springfield, MO 65802. The funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 pm, and then gravesite proceedings will be at the White Chapel Memorial Gardens. John Perkins will be officiating.
