Dan Clopton, 83, of Springfield, MO, passed away on October 13, 2012. He was raised in Aurora, MO. In 1947 he graduated from Aurora High School. After serving 5 years in the US Air Force he married his wife of 58 years Jo Akin. Dan was an educator in the public school system for 31 years. He served on several community boards and devoted his life to education and athletics by coaching and officiating for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Tom and sister Eloise.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jo; 3 wonderful children, Dana (Mark) LaMair; Dawn O''Dell and Scott Clopton; brother, Maurice ; sister, Mary Eubanks; grandchildren, Cory, Cristen, Cara, Laura, Amelia, Georgia, Deborah, Julia, (James) and Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. in the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte, 4500 S. Lone Pine, Springfield, MO. A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. in Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home Chapel.
