Cynthia "Cindy" A. Lambert Francis died peacefully at Ravenwood the Arbors in Springfield, Missouri on April 19th, 2016. She was born April 25, 1925 in Marshalltown, Iowa. Cynthia was the youngest of five children born to Earl Boydston Lambert and Cynthia A. McCrary Lambert.

Cynthia trained at Cook County Nursing school in Chicago from 1943-1946 and there met her future husband and love of her life, William "Bill" C. Francis, an orthopedic surgeon. They were married in 1947. Cynthia loved nursing and continued to work until her first daughter was born. She and Bill had three children.
Cindy was active in the community of Springfield, volunteering for Meals on Wheels and leading Girl Scout troops for her daughters. She cultivated many friendships through bridge clubs she belonged to over the years. She loved cooking and entertaining and created a beautiful home for her family.
Cindy and Bill loved traveling and went all over the world in their travels, often bringing back souvenirs to decorate their home. Cindy was very artistic and one of her favorite hobbies was creating hand-made greeting cards that were treasured by friends and family. She and Bill played golf together for many years. Bill passed in 2003 and Cindy continued to live in and maintain their home for 10 years.
Cindy was an avid seamstress, sewing everything from clothing for herself and her daughters to draperies and upholstery covers for furniture. She created many detailed counted cross stitch pieces that are true works of art and have won prizes at the Greene County Fair. She always had projects to keep her busy, but most enjoyed caring for her family and was a true care-giver at heart.
Cindy was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents, E.B. and Cynthia Lambert, siblings Charlene Squibb, twins Billie Latta and Betty Cord and brother, EB "Bud" Lambert.
She is survived by daughters Cathy Forehand (Larry), Christine Castillo (Jesus), son Richard Francis (Friederike), grandchildren Danielle Eiskant, Neil Eiskant (Kandice), Nico Francis-Emonds, Quentin Francis-Emonds, and Tyler Forehand (Kala). She also had three great-grandchildren and a fourth on the way, and many nieces and nephews.
Unable to attend church late in life, Cindy enjoyed services at Ravenwood every Sunday and loved having her Bible read to her. Though we will miss her terribly, she was ready to leave this world and we are sure she is now reunited with Bill and her beloved sisters, brother, and parents in Heaven. We know she will be looking down with love on her new baby great-grandson who will be born in August.
A Memorial Service for Cynthia will be held at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte Chapel on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m., with a private family burial to follow after the memorial service.
