Obituary

Curtis James Shaw, 70, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2026.

He was born on April 24, 1956, in Springfield, Missouri, to Thomas Shaw and Margaret Corn-Shaw.

Curtis had a heart of gold. He loved people deeply and would help anyone in need. Whether it was giving someone his last dollar, offering a ride home to a stranger at 3 a.m., or giving the shirt off his back, Curtis was always there for others. He was a fan of old trucks and classic cars, and he loved classic rock music. Curtis always had a good story to tell from his wild younger years, and his contagious laugh and playful sense of humor brought joy to everyone around him.

Most importantly, Curtis knew and loved the Lord. While attending Mt. Zion Baptist Church, he led the choir and drove the church bus, helping many children and elderly men and women make it to church each Sunday.

Curtis is survived by his daughter, Jamie Shaw; his two grandchildren, Breanna Campbell and Charlie Campbell; his siblings, Mike, Ronald, Tammy, Carl Lee, and Thomas; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Shaw; his mother, Margaret Corn-Shaw; his siblings, Robert, Ed, Harry, Barbara, Evelyn, Donald, Tommy, and Harold; and his nephew, Steven Adams.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
