Obituary

Clyddie Mae McCrimmons passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the beloved wife of the late Dexter McCrimmons II, with whom she shared 36 years of marriage until his passing in 2021. Born on January 30, 1951, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Clyde and Willie Mae, Clyddie was a woman of deep faith, boundless love, and a heart dedicated to serving others.

Above all, Clyddie was a devoted mother. Her four children were her greatest joy, and she poured her heart into raising them with love, wisdom, and faith. She and Dexter also fostered children for over 20 years, opening their home to those in need and offering them the same kindness and guidance she gave her own. Many still consider her "Momma," a reflection of the lasting impact she had on every child she welcomed into her life.

Clyddie was a proud believer who devoted her life to the Lord, radiating His love in all she did. She served her church faithfully as a Sunday school teacher, choir leader, and mentor, ensuring her children were raised with a strong foundation in faith. Before leading the church choir, she was a traveling singer, sharing her beautiful voice and passion for gospel music wherever she went. She was also a dedicated member of the Springfield community, serving as a school crossing guard, where she greeted every child with warmth, kindness, and a bright smile.

Clyddie was preceded in death by her husband, Dexter McCrimmons II; her parents, Clyde and Willie Mae Boyd; her in-laws, Dexter and Margaret MCrimmons; two brothers, Johnny Boyd and Willie Boyd; two sisters, Chaddie Boyd and Elizabeth Boyd; and many other loved ones. She is survived by her children, Michael McCrimmons and his wife, Jayme; Paytre McCrimmons; Thomas McCrimmons and his partner, Allye; and Daniel McCrimmons. She was a loving Gran-Gran to Ayden, Fahren, Aquira, and Amari, and she cherished her nephew, Mykel, whom she loved like a son. She is also survived by her sister and best friend, Dorothy Haywood, who shared a lifelong bond of love and friendship with her.

Clyddie's joy, kindness, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire all who knew her. She lived a life full of love, music, and service, and her spirit will forever be a reminder of God's goodness and grace.
