Reverend Claude E. Spilman
September 14, 1928 - October 30, 2014
In loving memory of Rev. Claude E. Spilman, born September 14, 1928, we celebrate his life lived for the glory of God. He is survived by his wife, Corene, of 63 years. They have two daughters, Rhonda Johnson (husband, Jim) of Springfield, MO and Dee Nipper (husband, Matt) of Denver, CO: four grand-daughters, Crystal Martin (husband, E. Scott) of Springfield, MO; Cyndee Williams (husband, Brian) of Springfield, MO; Casi Courson (husband, Keven) of Denver, CO; and Ashley Olsen of Denver, CO: seven great-grandchildren, Mercer Martin, Marcus Martin, Brennan Williams, Chloe Courson, GiGi Courson, Brooke Williams and Aubree Williams; one brother, Clinton Spilman of Fort Smith, AR and a sister-in-law, Maxine Tabor of Springfield, MO.
Claude graduated from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in 1951 with a Bachelors of Arts degree and then went on to receive his pastoral ordination with the Assemblies of God in 1953. After graduating, Claude and his wife, Corene, answered the call of God to pastor several churches in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and Arizona. Moreover, Claude served 22 years as Presbyter for the Assemblies of God District Councils in the states of Colorado and Arizona, while also serving on the board of Teen Challenge, a nationally acclaimed ministry offering freedom from addiction and life-controlling problems. After retiring from the pastorate at Flowing Wells Assembly of God in Tucson, Arizona in 1994, the Spilmans were sent on special assignments to Brussels, Belgium to serve four years with the AG International Church and Media Ministries. They also served in pastoral ministry in Seoul, Korea and Montego Bay, Jamaica. They retired again to their home in Springfield, MO.
Rev. Claude E. Spilman was a man of great faith, quiet strength, Christ-like humility, and uncommon integrity. He was loved deeply by his family and friends and all who were touched by his life and ministry.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 8 at 9:00am at Central Assembly of God, 1301 N Booneville Springfield, MO. Services will held at 10:00 am, November 8, 2014 at the church. Burial will follow in Rivermonte Memorial Gardens.
