Charles Ramsey Wallace, 89, of Springfield, MO passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at the Ash Grove Nursing Home. He was born on Thursday, March 2, 1933 in Springfield, MO to Frances Louise Bradley and Carl Burnis Wallace.
Charles graduated from Lincoln High, which is now Central High School, in 1951. He married Delores Rose on March 1, 1951. Charles joined the US Army following their marriage and went through basic training at Fort Sill, OK. He served his country during the Korean War and was stationed in Hawaii before coming home to Springfield, MO. Charles started college at SMSU for 2 years and then enrolled at University of MO at Rolla School of Mines, receiving a civil engineer degree in 1960. After graduation, he hired on with the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway as a civil engineer for the Maintenance of Way Dpt., having a 40 year railroad career. Charles was an avid duck hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and one grandson Aaron Wallace.
Charles is survived by his two sons Carl Lee Wallace (wife Sandra) of Springfield, MO and Allen Bradley Wallace (wife Lisa) of Willard, MO, four grandchildren Charles Eugene Wallace, Alex Wallace (fiancé Baylie), Kyle Wallace (fiancé Haley) and Valan Wallace-Graves (husband Jeff), two great-granddaughters Olivia Wallace and Gatlynn Graves and a host of friends and family.
Following cremation, full military honors will be conducted at 1 PM on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery 5201 S. Southwood Rd., Springfield, MO 65804. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the D.A.V. or Convoy of Hope. Online condolences can be made at www.klingnerfuneralhome.com
