Obituary

Charles "Chuck" Edward Haynes, aged 57 years, passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 in Springfield, MO with his sister by his side following a 3-year battle with Mesothelioma.

Chuck was born on Sunday,  July 17, 1966, to Charles Haynes and Lyndell Jones in Springfield, MO where he lived most of his life. He was a graduate of Parkview High School in Springfield, MO. Chuck was a man of many skills, and he wasn't afraid to share his knowledge with anyone who was willing to learn. He used those skills to build a career for himself in welding at Ridewell Suspensions in Springfield, MO where he worked for nearly two decades. He loved helping people and would go above and beyond for anyone, especially his friends and family. He would often say his life was about helping people. If you knew Chuck you know his favorite hobbies included everything outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing. His interests didn't stop there. He also loved camping, swimming, boating, float trips, grilling, barbecuing, gardening, and farming. His knowledge of gardening was a culmination of what he learned from his Grandpa Charlie and the experience of doing it himself. If you needed a tip on how to grow a better tomato – Chuck was your guy. His other loves were Classic Rock – especially 80s hair bands – and air-cooled Volkswagens. He collected parts, built custom cars, and attended car shows for the classic Volkswagens. He particularly enjoyed the Eureka Springs, AR Volkswagen show.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lyndell Haynes; grandparents, Charlie Haynes, Helen and Webb Hoppis, Austin and Pauline Edwards; aunt, Lareen Davis.

He is survived by his son, Caleb (Felicia) of Eudora, MO; his daughter, Sarah Gilpin (James) of Bolivar, MO; four grandchildren, Caitlin and Elizabeth Haynes, Henley and Gunnar Gilpin; sister, De Ann Miller (Billy) of Clinton, TN; nieces, Rachel Roberts and Laura Guzman of Clinton, TN; and lifelong friend of thirty-five years, Wayne Underwood and his daughters, Jessica Szahowski and Stacy Wood; special friends, Tyler and Mindy Perryman, Pastor Rick Owsley and A.J. Rogers and many cousins throughout the country.

The family would like to thank Three Rivers Hospice for their support. They were wonderful during the time they supported Chuck and his family and allowed him to remain in control as much as possible in an uncontrollable time. That means so much to everyone who cared for Chuck.
