Charles William Boyd, 74, of Springfield, MO, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2015. He was the son of Charles W. and Rachel (Merryman) Boyd born on March 27, 1941, in Camden, Arkansas.

Charles served in the Air Force for 4 ½ years serving in the Viet Nam War. He taught in the Management Department for 25 years at MSU and retired in 2005. After retiring he and his wife dedicated their time to supporting mission and disaster relief projects throughout the world. His last mission trip was to a church plant in Hawaii.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Charles is survived by his wife Patricia of 49 years; sons, Brent and his wife Christy and their children Brooke, Jeffrey, and Andrew Boyd, Brandon and his wife Melissa and their children Ethan and Donovan Boyd; two sisters, Barbara James and Patricia Campbell; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at Second Baptist Church (3111 E. Battlefield), with Dr. John Marshall officiating. Visitation will follow after the service in the atrium with a burial in Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 3:00 P.M.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Second Baptist Church Missions for the Voyage Church in Hawaii or Gideons International.
