Carol Sue
Jones
Jan 6, 1941 — May 28, 2026
Carol Sue (Louzader) Jones, age 85, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, following a short illness.
Sue was born on January 6, 1941, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and moved to Springfield with her parents at an early age. She was preceded in death by her parents, U.S. “Pete” Louzader and Opal Louzader; her brother, Glynn Louzader; her husband, Robert Jones; and her oldest son, Kenneth Moore.
She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Jones and wife Debra, Melissa Harmon and husband James, and Cari Gray and husband Robert; her grandchildren, Rhonda Moore, Drew Lindsey and wife Erica, and Ethan Gray and fiancée Josie Linson; and her great-grandchildren, Madison Taylor, Rebecca Taylor, Beatrix Lindsey, and Margaux Lindsey. Sue also shared a special bond with her many nieces and nephews, each of whom held a cherished place in her heart.
Sue's love of music began at an early age through her studies of the violin and piano. Following in her mother's footsteps, she performed with the Kilties Drum and Bugle Corps while attending Central High School in Springfield. Her musical talent continued throughout her life, including serving as second violin/first chair with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra.
She began her career at Commerce Bank before embarking on an international adventure with her family. In 1974, the Jones family moved to the Middle East, where Sue worked within the local school system attended by her children. During those years abroad, she embraced new experiences, learning the sport of fencing alongside her husband and caring for a wide variety of special pets, especially cats and birds.
Her passion for the arts extended beyond music into theater. For ten years, Sue served as a Prompt and Business Manager with the Dhahran Theater Group, contributing to 45 productions that ranged from Macbeth to Into the Woods. She found great joy in supporting the performing arts and helping to bring these productions to life behind the scenes.
A gifted needleworker, Sue devoted countless hours to cross-stitching and was an active member of the local "Stitch 'n Bitch" club. Through her artistry, she created beautiful and meaningful pieces that remain treasured keepsakes for her family.
Sue and her family traveled extensively throughout the world, creating memories across many countries and cultures. Despite the distance, she always looked forward to the family's annual visits back to the United States, where this special time with loved ones was spent reconnecting.
In 2001, Sue returned to Springfield to help care for her great-grandchildren. She embraced her grandmother role with love and affection. Her nurturing spirit was also reflected in her lifelong affection for animals. Throughout the years, she was a devoted cat mom to several feline companions who brought her comfort and companionship.
Sue will be remembered for her commitment to family, musical talent, artistic gifts, adventurous spirit, and the warmth and kindness she shared with all who knew her. Her legacy lives on through the family she loved so deeply and the many lives she touched along the way.
Memorial service information will be announced by the family.
