Obituary

"The moment we take our last breath on earth, we take our first in heaven."

- Billy Graham -

Bobby Lee Durr took his first breath in heaven on the afternoon of Sunday, October 31, 2021 at the age of 75. He was born on Thursday, August 22, 1946 in Springfield, MO, as one of five brothers and five sisters born to Van and Velma Durr.

A member of a very large family, Bobby was taught the true meaning of hard work, loyalty to family, and finding the positive in all that life throws your way. He was known as one of the best carpenters to ever swing a hammer, and always made sure his work was something to be proud of. He and his wife, Nancy, married on October 22, 1965 and from that moment forward you rarely saw one without the other. For richer or poorer, in sickness and in health…they walked that together through 56 years. After retiring in 2008 he enjoyed being able to spend more time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. Whether it was attending their school functions, going to the weigh-ins at a fishing tournament, watching cattle shows from the sidelines, taking them hunting, or lending a hand with their projects, he could always be counted on to jump in and get the job done right. Soft spoken and content to stay in the background, yet he was a force to be reckoned with when it came to protecting his family.

Bobby and Nancy's children are Melinda Burk (husband-Mike) of Marionville, and their children - Kyle and Tori Burk (Jaycee, Cooper, and Addison), and Kortni and Austin Brashers (Wyatt, Harper, and Bowen); Jeff Durr (wife-Sonya) of Republic, and their children - Joel Schulz (Caysen and Quinton), and Brandon Durr; and Kimberly Garrison (husband-David) of Republic, and their children - Karlee Page and Wyatt Page.

One of the hardest things that life threw at him was losing his son, Jeff, last year…but we know that Jeff was waiting on him as he drew his last breath here on Sunday and started life anew in heaven. Lessons learned, memories made, and legacies to continue on…see ya soon
