Charles William Eugene "Bill" Sater, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026, following a brief illness. He was a fiercely independent 88 years old. Bill was born on Monday, September 13, 1937, in Springfield, Missouri, to Eugene Victor Sater and Lillian Irene Sater.

He was raised in Springfield with his brother and four sisters. Bill owned and operated his own business, Sater Sewer Service, for more than 60 years, and proudly sported his nickname, "The Drain Surgeon." He and his nephew, Wayne Lee Sater, Jr., earned the trust and loyalty of hundreds of customers over the years through a policy of fairness and dependability. Wayne will carry on Bill's legacy (with a lot less yelling). Bill was an avid outdoorsman and adrenaline junkie. He enjoyed bow hunting, fishing, cliff diving, stock car racing, and learning to fly small planes. His hobbies included: taking people's money in poker, taking people's money in billiards, collecting ALL of the things, and telling people how to do things the RIGHT way! Bill loved all dogs, a few people (you know who you are) and one cat. He had friends everywhere, never met a stranger, and could talk a zebra out of its stripes for a bargain price. His dislikes included spam calls, the postal service, taxes, and technology. (Special thanks to the saints at the AT&T store, who he considered his personal tech support team!)

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Wayne Lee Sater, Sr., one sister Darlene Reaves, three children and his soulmate Sharon Swearingen-Simmons.

He is survived by his daughter Robin Morgan, 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, three sisters Patricia "Patti" Novich, Katrina Baker and Mary Nichols, multiple cousins, nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Sadie, who is the only known pot-bellied Jack Russell Terrier in the animal kingdom.

Following cremation, Bill will be interred at Yeakley cemetery with his soulmate, Sharon. As per his wishes, there will be no formal services. Bill died as he lived: on his own terms and in his own time. He will be missed by many.
