William Devella Mumford, 67, of Springfield, MO passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021 at Mercy Hospital. He was born in Chicago, IL on Friday, January 22, 1954 to Arthur Jesse Mumford and Mamie Gee.

He married Loretta Grant on September 20, 1980 in Chicago, IL. William, often called "Bill" by his friends, was a well respected Chicago firefighter. Bill worked for the Chicago Fire Department for over 20 years. His hobbies included writing and playing music, studying films and writing plays.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.

He is survived by his three daughters Sabrina Parker of Atlanta, GA, Natalee Mosley and Chelsea Mumford (Elgin) of Chicago IL, three sons Wyman Mosley (Samantha) of Springfield, MO, Rahsaan Mumford of Chicago, IL and Bill Mosley of Springfield, MO, two sisters Juanita Mumford and Carnetta Frazier, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021 from 10- 11AM at the Sanctuary of Praise, 2245 S. Holland Ave., Springfield, MO 65807 with funeral services to follow at 11 AM. Burial and full military honors will be conducted at 10 AM on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
