Betty J. West, 80, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2014 in Springfield, MO. She was born February 3, 1934, the daughter of Herbert and Bertha Slusser. Betty and Charles West were united in marriage in 1950.

Betty worked and retired as a manager for Stewart''s in Springfield. She loved to work in her flower garden and loved to sit and crochet many beautiful things.

Betty was a caring and loving daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She will be missed by those who loved her.

Betty is survived by 3 daughters, Debbie Rundell of Mt. Vernon; Shellie Burton and husband Donald "Que" of Louisiana and Janet West of Mt. Vernon, her son, Rusty West and wife Cathy of Springfield, 7 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandchild, 4 sisters, Shirley West of Willard, Carolyn Williams of Ash Grove , Margo Harrington and JoAnn Carter, both of Springfield, 2 brothers, Jim Harrington of California and Kenny Harrington of Republic and a host of nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, her son Steven, her daughter Wanda and her brother Bud.

Betty''s wishes were for her body to be cremated. A Memorial service will be at 2:00pm, on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte, 4500 S. Lone Pine, Springfield, MO.
