Obituary

Mrs. Betty J. Myers, 88 of Aurora, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, March 16, 2024.

Betty Jean Myers was born on Wednesday, February 12, 1936 in Springfield, Missouri to Hubert Jackson and Hazel Marie (Jones) Tharp and attended Rogersville, High School, Rogersville, Missouri. Betty was a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked in the surrounding nursing facilities. She enjoyed playing bingo with her best friend Brenda.

She is survived by seven children, Linda Jean (Whaley) Vannostrand, Karen Colleen Whaley, Timothy Paul Whaley, Shelly Robin (Myers) Thompson, Kim Renee (Myers) Bowerman, Carol Denise (Myers) Parnell and Jeffery Allen Myers; five siblings, Kenneth (Kenny) Tharp, Bennie Tharp, Connie Presley, Cindy Robins, and Terry Tharp; fifteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and her service dog Baby, who became her "partner in crime."

Betty is preceded in death by her loving husband, confidant and best friend, Vernon "Maurice" Myers; parents, Hubert Jackson and Hazel Marie (Jones) Tharp; four siblings, Jackie, Larry, Frankie and Mark Tharp.

A special thanks goes to the wonderful staff at Aurora Mercy Hospital and Gentiva Hospice. Thank you also to family and friends who came and visited her during her last days.

A Celebration of Life will be on June 29, 2024 with location and time announced at a later date.
