Obituary

.

Bessie Marie Brown was born to Lathan McDaniel and Katherine Dalton McDaniel on September 28, 1940, in Springfield, Missouri, and on June 5, 2020 she was called to her Heavenly home.

Bessie attended Lincoln High School and later married Richard L. Brown, Sr. on April 16, 1965. She was a Switch Board Operator at Smith Glen Callaway Clinic and later worked at General Electric until she retired in 2000.

Bessie gave her life to the Lord July 1993, and whole heartedly and diligently served the Lord until she was called home. Bessie joined and served at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, she was later released to serve at Timmon's Temple Church of God In Christ, under, then Pastor, Elijah H. Hankerson, III. For the last 18 years of her life Bessie attended Covenant of Grace Christian Center Church of God In Christ, under Pastors Tray L. Walton Sr. and Agnes Walton. Bessie served in the house of the Lord as the Sunday School Teacher, Head-Usher, Treasurer, Hospitality Coordinator, Prayer Warrior, cleaned the church, and was honored as Mother of the Church. Bessie never met an individual whose life she did not touch with her love, her giving, her "tough" love, her amazing cooking, caregiving, and her genuine "Motherly" love. Bessie was not only the Mother of the Church but she was a "shoulder to cry on, someone to talk to, sound board, giver of wise and sound advice, and a mother to all that reached out to her, no matter young or old, and she loved them all dearly.

Bessie enjoyed cooking for the people she loved, she enjoyed having family gatherings, and especially traditional holiday dinner celebrations. Bessie enjoyed spending time with her family, daily devotional, watching westerns, and playing Solitaire at her Kitchen table. Once she conquered loading, attaching, and forwarding pictures on her cell phone, Bessie enjoyed sending words of encouragement, faith-based pictures, and scriptures to ones that the Lord laid on her heart for the day. If you could not find Bessie at home, just cruse the Walmart or Save A Lot parking lot, and you would be sure to find "Ruby" (her van) waiting patiently for her to return.

When Bessie went home to be with the Lord, joyously waiting to welcome her to her heavenly home were her parents, her husband, and her son Lathan McDaniel, grandson Lance Smith, brother David Barker and sister Yvonnia Daniel, grandparents (paternal and maternal) son-in- law, Jerry Manier, and Step-Mother Susie McDaniel.

Bessie leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Eric Brown, Katherine Armstrong (Charles), Victoria Manier, William "Leroy" Brown (Yolonda), Rosetta Martin (William), and Richard Brown, Jr. (Tanya), all of Springfield, MO,; Sisters Clarice Pardlow of Springfield, MO, Jana Sue Stowers of St. Louis, MO., and Viola Hunt of Detroit MI,; Sister-In-Law Rosetta Clarida of Springfield, MO,; special daughter in law Patricia Thornburg of Springfield, MO, and a very, very, special (friend/daughter) Agnes Walton,; 18 Grandkids, 35 great grandkids and 2 great-great-grandkids,; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Bessie was a Mother, a Wife, A sister, an Auntie, and Friend, and was known affectionately as Momma, Nanny, Nam, Auntie, and Mother Brown.

Bessie Loved the Lord with all her heart and anticipated her home going with great joy. A beautiful light has left this earth to go home and She will be greatly missed FOREVER!
