Obituary

Barry Walcott age 80, died peacefully Thursday March 4, 2021 at Cox Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

Barry Noble Walcott was born April 4, 1940, in St. Joseph Michigan to Noble and Leona (Brunke) Walcott.

He is proceeded in death by his wife Jean (Smith) Walcott, parents Noble and Leona Walcott, and in-laws Kenneth and Dorothy (Tice) Smith.

He is survived by his daughter Alissa Strong (husband Glyn), grandson Taylor Strong (wife Krista), granddaughters Britney and Kylie Strong, great granddaughter Peyton Strong, sister Sharon Radde, sister in-law Lynn Lozada (husband Juan), brothers in-law Dennis (Lee Zacha) and Richard (wife Trish) Smith and many nieces and nephews.

Barry graduated St. Joseph High School class of 1958, achieved his Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Western Michigan University. He taught elementary education in Kalamazoo, Michigan and Houston, Texas.  After teaching he returned to his passion of restaurant management and retired from McDonald's Corporation after suffering from a major car accident that nearly cost him his life in 1989.

Barry was very active in the churches he attended.  He was a Sunday school teacher, camp counselor, choir member, and active in Steven Ministries.  He loved to sing, read, write, take long walks and spend time with family and friends.  He enjoyed watching sports especially basketball & tennis.

A Memorial Service, together with his wife Jean (passed 10/16/20) and mother in-law Dorothy (passed 1/15/21), will be held Saturday June 26, 2021, at Calvary Bible Church (Academy) in Dowagiac, Michigan.
