Springfield resident Barbara Kathleen Herndon, 79 passed away January 31, 2017.
A memorial service for friends and family will be held at The Library Center, 4653 S. Campbell Ave, Springfield, on Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 2 till 4 pm.
Barbara was born October 30, 1937, in Springfield, MO to Glenna E. and Edward N. Stone.
She loved beautiful plants, flowers and was an avid reader who loved history and had a fondness for the U.S. Old West. She had a quick wit and humor which more people should have experienced. She was a loyal volunteer for many years with the charitable organization "Friends of the Library."
Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, James E. Stone and sister, Mollie J. Ferrell.
She is survived by her sister, Sharon K. Stone (New York City); sister-in-law, Doreen Stone (Topeka, KS); tow daughters, Lori K. Cheek (Fair Grove) and Chris A. (Herndon) Bade (Rolla). She leaves also: Granddaughter, Sheree E. Loveland and her husband Mark and great granddaughter, BrookLynn of Forestville, WI and loving nieces and nephews.
Ms. Herndon is interred at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 4500 S. Lone Pine Ave, Springfield, MO. In lieu of flowers please send memorial gifts in Barbara's name to: Friends of the Library, Joyce Kastler, Treasurer, 4653 S. Campbell Avenue, Springfield, MO 65810.
