Obituary

Barbara was born in Montreal, Missouri and lived in several towns before her family moved to Lebanon, Missouri. She graduated with honors in 1949 from Lebanon High School. While attending the First Baptist Church in Lebanon, she met the love of her life – Richard
Eugene Dungey. After graduation, she attended Missouri Baptist School of Nursing from February 1950 to May 1953. She married Richard on April 1, 1951. They were married for 70 years.

With such a passion for nursing, her career led her to work in Missouri, California and Oklahoma. After moving to Oklahoma in 1972, she worked as a registered nurse at Deaconess Hospital. Eventually becoming head nurse of 4 th floor, then Associate Nursing Administrator and then on to become the Nursing Administrator. She worked in that capacity for several years and finally retired in September 1996.

While working fulltime, she continued her education and graduated with a bachelor's degree from Ottawa University in 1983 and went on to obtain her master's degree.


She is preceded in death by son,Michael Eugene Dungey; granddaughter, Bradyn Michelle Dickson; parents,Floyd and Floy Sellers; brother and sister-in-law-Wayne and Josephine Sellers; aunt,Robbie Sweatt; and brothers-in law, Clifford Foster and Kenneth Dungey.


Barbara is survived by husband-Richard Dungey; daughters, Diane Dungey (Christy Tumberger) and Lisa Dickson (David); granddaughters, Brittany Butryn (Ryan) and Bailey Dickson; and sister, Mary Lee Foster. In addition, she is survived by nieces and nephews: Connie Risan (Bret), Steve Foster (Becky), Linda White (Kevin), Cathy Meyers, Janet Williams (Arwin Boaz), Wanda Baker, Terri Mecey (Don), Bobbi Anderson (Mike), Rodney Dungey (Laurie) and David Dungey, as well as numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.


Barbara was a compassionate, loving and gentle-spirited soul. She thought of others first and was truly a Christian in thought, word and deed. She always had a smile, positive attitude and a kind word of support and love. She lived by example to be grateful for what we have and generous to those who have less. She was a light to us all and will be greatly missed.
