Barbara Nan Dawson, 80, of Springfield, MO went to her Heavenly home on Saturday, October 9, 2021. She was born on Tuesday, October 7, 1941 in Joplin, MO to Naomi Wilson and Clarence Mering.

Barbara was an active member of the Queen City chapter (formerly Strafford) Order of the Eastern Star and twice held the position of Worthy Matron. She moved to Springfield in 1976 and was a kind, caring and a compassionate woman. Barbara cared deeply for her family and friends. She will be profoundly missed. Special thanks to Hospice Compassus and Copper Rock Village for taking such great care of her.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Morris Dawson, one son Jerry Lee Martin Jr., one sister Ruth Cook and one brother Walter Clarence Robert (Butch) Mering.

She is survived by her two children Tammy Martin (friend Patti Coleman) and Glenn Dawson (wife Cindy) of Springfield, MO, one step-daughter Brandi Dawson of Salem, OR, two sisters Judith Will and Jeannie Dickson (husband Jack), one brother Charles Mering (wife El), four grandsons Brady Dawson, Reece Dawson, Joshua Martin and Jeremiah Martin and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family.

A visitation will be from 1-2 PM on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Klinger-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte, 4500 S.
