Asa L. Young, 86 of Springfield, MO, was born on April 21, 1927 in Walnut Grove, MO to Raymond and Opal (Abbott) Young. He passed away on June 13, 2013.

He married Betty L. Erwin on February 7, 1948 and had 65 great years together. He was a yard foreman for lumber, was a charter member of First Baptist of Battlefield, enjoyed traveling and the St. Louis Cardinals and served in the Army surviving a year and a half of the Korean conflict.

Asa is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Walter Charles Young; and his grandparents, of whom he lived with until joining the Army. He is survived by his loving wife Betty; many nieces, nephews and friends.

A service will be held on Monday, June 17, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W State Hwy EE (Division), Springfield, MO with visitation to be held one hour prior to service. Officiant will be Reverend Ray Smith. Interment will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
