Ardys A. (Batcheller) Chatterton, 92, died peacefully in her home on January 9, 2015. She was born November 2, 1922 in Webster City, Iowa to Luman and Grace (Ayers) Batcheller. Ardys grew up in Webster City, IA until the age of seven when her family settled in Humansville, MO.

Mrs. Chatterton graduated from Humansville High School in 1940 and from Burge School of Nursing (now Cox College) in 1944 as a Registered Nurse. She worked as a labor and delivery room nurse for 42 years and was affectionately known as "Chat" to her colleagues at Cox Hospital.

Ardys was a member of Walnut Street Christian Church in Springfield for over 50 years. As part of the church''s outreach, she worked on many quilting and sewing projects. She also enjoyed reading and travel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Doris Wade and Lois Hogan, and her husband of 44 years, Donald Chatterton. She is survived by 4 children; Donald Chatterton Jr. and his wife, Vickie of Tekoa, WA, Sue Carver and her husband, Donald of Springfield, MO, Linda Walker and her partner, Holly Bennyhoff of Phoenix, AZ and David Chatterton and his wife, Kathy of Strafford, MO; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Visitation for Ardys will be on Tuesday, January 13, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W State Hwy EE (Division), Springfield, MO with service on Wednesday, January 14, 2014 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Alan Schmitt presiding. Interment will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
