Alvin Swan "Gabby" Lawson passed away at home Saturday April 26, 2014. He was born in Springfield, MO to parents Martin and Ruth on November 10, 1933. Alvin attended Whitlock Primary School and graduated from Fair Grove High School in 1951.

Alvin was a member of Pleasant Home Baptist Church, recently was attending the Cowboy Church. He was a Navy veteran, a Shriner, and a member of the Elks. Alvin retired from the Frisco Railroad after 37 years as a Car Foreman. After retiring, he enjoyed 14 years as a school bus driver for Springfield Public Schools.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers Wayne and Earl. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Sonja (Wright) Lawson, a daughter Gina and husband Rex Stapp, a son Bryan and wife Julie, a brother M. Leon and wife Kathryn, a sister Christine Jones, a grandson Jordan Spradlin-Lawson, 3 granddaughters Sumer and husband David Elliott, Amber Stapp and Lauren Lawson, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
