Alpha "Nana" (Burks) Martin, 87 of Springfield, MO passed away Sunday, September 18, 2011 at 11:40 AM, in her home. She was born on June 7, 1924 to Floyd and Mary Alice Burks in Flippin, AR. She was the oldest of eight children born to this union. She had three brothers, one who preceded her in death, and four sisters, one who preceded her in death.
Alpha was joined in marriage to Thomas William Martin on January 5, 1942. They were married for 47 years before his death on July 6, 1989. To this union were six children, Lorice Martin, who preceded her in death, Thomas Eugene Martin (TX), Ralph Edward Martin (TX), Bruce Lynn Martin (TX) who preceded her in death, Vikki Denise Woodruff (MO), Cathie Sue Perkins (MO) with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held Thursday, September 22, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W. State Hwy EE (West Division) Springfield, MO. Service will be Friday, September 23, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home. Interment will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
