Alma Lee (Burkhart) Wingender of Springfield, age 82, died peacefully in her home on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. Alma was born in Lexington, NC, on May 15, 1940, to James E. and Jennie Lee (Lanning) Burkhart.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Christine, Danny, Don, Jimmy, Maxine, Tommy, and Wayne; two sons: Ron and Randy; and two grandsons: Josh and Matthew.

Alma is survived by one sister, Bobbie; two sons, Rob (and Dianne) of Ozark, MO, and Rick (and Joy) of Springfield, MO; ten grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Alma loved her family. Me-Me's grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life, and she called them her "grand and great ones".

Alma was saved at a young age and was a member of Cherry Street Baptist Church in Springfield and attended until her health would not allow it.

Alma received great care from the nurses and caregivers from Seasons Hospice which made it possible for her to spend her last days in her home surrounded by her family as she wished.

A visitation will be geld from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Friday, February 10, 2023 at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home Chapel at Rivermonte, Springfield . The memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel
