Alice I. Hyllberg, 97, went to be with her Lord on May 1, 2016 at Maranatha Lodge, Springfield, MO.

She was born June 11, 1918 in Racine, Wis., to Danish immigrant parents Carl and Marie Hyllberg. She accepted Christ as Savior while a teenager and graduated from Great Lakes Bible Institute in 1938. Alice was active with the choir and youth at Zion Christian Assembly, working at Abbott Labs in N. Chicago from 1941 to 1948.

In 1949 she and her friend Virginia Fitzke moved to Yakima, Wash., where they lived for over 30 years. Alice was secretary for a law firm and then a neurosurgeon. She served as choir director, Sunday school teacher, and other ministries at Westside Assembly and the Evangelical Covenant Church.

After retiring, she and Virginia moved to Springfield in 1983. Members at Central Assembly of God, they were active in the Pioneer Choir, going on ministry tours. Alice was preceded in death by Virginia, her parents, and eight siblings. She is survived by sister-in-law, Vivian Hyllberg and numerous loving nieces and nephews who remember her cards, hugs and generous spirit.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 9, at Maranatha Chapel, 233 E. Norton, under the direction of Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 12:00 and burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to AG World Missions, Oral Learners Bible Institute #625132[50], 1445 N. Boonville Ave., Springfield, MO 65802.
