Obituary

Alfred R. "Bob" Chandler, age 88 of Springfield passed away on Friday, April 6, 2012. He was born in Fellows, CA on May 27, 1923 to Clyde and Gertrude Roberts Chandler. Bob married Jean Allison in 1943 in Taft, CA. He worked on the oil derricks in Taft and later became Business Agent for Teamsters Local 87 in Bakersfield, CA.
Bob was a loving husband and enjoyed his family. He was a protector and always made sure his family was taken care of. One of Bob''s favorite saying about love was "I love you more than you love me". He believed in getting things done, NOW! Bob was a great story teller and enjoyed boxing, both as a spectator and street participant-at times.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister. Bob is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jean; a son Thomas and his wife Sharon, two married granddaughters, Diana Thiessen and husband Chris and Juli Matthews and husband Shawn, two great grandchildren, Shawn and Victoria Thiessen and a host of family and friends.
A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, April 12th from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte, 4500 S. Lone Pine. The funeral will be held Friday, April 13th at noon in the Rivermonte Chapel. Interment will follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
